I am the Elementary Project Based Learning (PBL) Coordinator for the Manor Independent School District.
After earning a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master's Degree in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, I changed career paths to answer the call of teaching. This decision has served me well, allowing me to ignite curiosity and a love of reading in my students and in the teachers I am fortunate enough to coach.
Over the years I have been a 1st Grade Teacher, a Reading Interventionist, and a teacher in the AIM program for gifted and talented students alongside the top-notch educators of Manor ISD. I have also had the opportunity to serve as a Reading Specialist at a private international school in Mumbai, India. This adventure expanded my horizons and introduced me to people and parts of the world I had never imagined. Upon returning to the United States, I was delighted to learn that Manor ISD was opening a Project Based Learning elementary school and it was a perfect fit!
This year, I am delighted to support teachers implementing the New Tech Network's model of Project Based Learning in 4 of Manor's elementary schools, with my primary role being to support Lagos Elementary.
Outside of teaching, I am a new homeowner and mom to a joyful and active Boston Terrier puppy. My downtime is spent doing yardwork, yoga, watercolor painting, and dog-sitting for others. I have recently taken an interest in hand-lettering and bullet journaling, which I find to be a relaxing, creative outlet.
I look forward to serving students at Lagos Elementary through coaching the teachers on a daily basis, as well as those in Manor ISD's other New Tech Elementary Schools who are implementing PBL as their primary mode of instruction. I cannot wait to see what this school year will bring in Manor ISD!
